The Blessing of Benjamin
About Benjamin he said, “Let the beloved of the Lord rest secure in him, for he shields him all day long, and the one the Lord loves rests between his shoulders. Deuteronomy 33:12 (NIV)
What a picture! Benjamin resting against the chest of Almighty God, close enough to hear His heartbeat, shielded all day long from any danger, resting like a small child held securely in his father’s arms. Not just any child—a favorite child, most loved and cherished. The apple of His eye. Can’t you imagine how the father dreams for this child? Dreaming of his future and all its possibilities. Dreaming of his destiny and purpose. Dreaming great dreams for this chosen child, this child beloved and cherished.
Guess what! His love wasn’t used up on Benjamin. You are also like Benjamin in His sight. He dreams great dreams for you. His favor rests upon you. He knows every hair on your head, every thought in your mind, and loves you anyway! You are God’s beloved. You are this favored child.
How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! I John 3:1a (NIV)
Draw close and rest your ear against his chest. Listen to his every heartbeat, feel the vibration of His words through His chest. Draw near. Rest in Him. He’ll shield you all day long.
