Finding Shade
You have been a refuge for the poor, a refuge for the needy in his distress, a shelter from the storm and a shade from the heat. Isaiah 25:4
Just getting out of the direct heat of the sun makes all the difference. Moving a chair beneath a leafy tree during picnics, standing in the shadow of a building while waiting in line for an event, or moving to the shade of a rock makes the hot sun bearable.
One thing is certain. We must move to the shade-the shade doesn't come to us.
Next time the troubles of your world glow red hot, remember this passage. God promises to be your shade and refuge. You only have to turn to Him. Get close enough to rest in His shadow. Find comfort and refreshment in His presence. He's waiting for you. He wants to help you. He's on your side.
Dear Jesus, shield us from the heat of today. Amen.
