WHOLE LOT OF SHAKING GOING ON

This is what the Lord Almighty says: “in a little while I will once more shake the heavens and the earth, the sea and the dry land. I will shake all nations, and the desired of all nations will come, and I will fill this house with glory,” says the Lord Almighty. Haggai 2:6-7

At that time his voice shook the earth, but now he has promised, “Once more I will shake not only the earth but also the heavens.” The words ‘once more’ indicate the removing of what can be shaken—that is, created things—so that what cannot be shaken may remain. Hebrews 12:26

Jerry Lee Lewis’ rock and roll song has been on my mind lately. Although I’ve never experienced an earthquake, I’ve been feeling a lot of shaking. The stock market crash. The economic crisis. Oil prices. Political upheaval. Greed and corruption. Wars, crime and violence. Global warming. Scandal. These problems surface with the force of an earthquake and threaten us where we live. It's personal. A whole lot of shaking.

According to Homeland Security, the best way to survive an earthquake is to hide beneath a piece of strong furniture and cover with blankets to keep out falling debris. If the dwelling was built in pre-regulation eras, it is best to stand in a doorway or leave the building entirely. Certainly there is a correlation between the type of dwelling and survival rates.

God promises to be our dwelling place in times of trouble, a place of refuge. He's the strong tower, that sure foundation that cannot be moved. If you’re feeling the shaking of today's world, why not turn to him. He'll keep you safe.

If you make the Most High your dwelling—even the Lord, who is my refuge—then no harm will befall you, no disaster will come near your tent. For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways. Psalm 91:9-11
