A KNOCK AT THE DOOR

Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him and he with me. Revelations 3:20

Come in, Dear Jesus. Thank you for knocking. I've been lonesome but didn't know it was for you. I've been waiting, not knowing I waited for you. Come in. Make me new. Wash away the wrong things I've done. I'm sorry for the mess I've made of my life, for all the mistakes and missteps. Come, Jesus. I welcome you.

I receive you, Jesus. Son of God, I draw you in as water through a straw. I inhale you. I breathe you into my lungs and into every cell of my body. Sweet Holy Spirit, my life absorbs you. The dead, empty spaces are filled with your light. My desiccated cells absorb your living water. The life of your presence restores life in me. Come into all of me and change me. I give you permission.

Fill me with your love. I soak it in. I allow it to flush away all hatred and bitterness and heal the broken parts of my life. You give your love freely and I accept it. It is sweet on my lips and I taste it, savor it.

Send courage to me, Lord Jesus. I need that stoutness of heart that comes only from you. Within I see only weakness, cowardice and fear but though I am afraid, I choose to be on your side and allow you to fight my battles. I hide within you and feel your strength make up for my lack. I receive your courage.

Bless me with faith to remove the mountain of unbelief in my heart. Plant within me that mustard seed that grows into a mighty tree. I receive this gift of faith. Thank you for planting it in my heart.

In the face of troubles and circumstances, my hope has withered. Restore it. Stoke the flame of your hope within me. Give me the strength to carry the gift of hope in spite of discouragement.

I lay my life at your feet in all its imperfections. Recycle it into something better, something that will please you. Come in. Come quickly, Lord Jesus. I'm so glad to receive you.

My child, as you open the door I come into your life. I do not come empty handed. I carry gifts of forgiveness and salvation. Your sins are gone --as far as the east is from the west they are cast away from you. I carry gifts and fruits of my spirit and long to bless you with them. They will make your way easier. I long to fill you with all things good. Long ago I dreamed a wonderful dream of what your life could be. Dream it with me. We will journey together. Jesus
